PURPOSE:To close automatically a file and to switch off a power supply in order to avoid consumption of unnecessary electric power, by providing a switch which conducts when a magnetic disk is loaded into a disk drive and is cut off when the disk is taken out of the disk drive respectively between a primary power part and the power supply. CONSTITUTION:A floppy disk 1 is put into a floppy disk drive 2 until it stops when the use of a disk unit 100 is started. A power supply is turned on when an internal power supply switch 4 provided in the drive 2 is pushed by the disk 1. Thus an LED5 is turned on to show the ON state of the power supply. Then a writing job is possible after a disk drive door 6 is closed and a ready display LED7 is turned on. Furthermore, an access display LED8 is turned on during a writing job. When the use of the unit 100 is over, the LED7 is turned off. Then the drive door 6 is opened and the disk 1 comes out of the drive 2.
