PURPOSE:To test a portable medium without exposing the secrecy of the person who have the medium by providing a write area for test data in the data memory of the portable medium and reading and writing data in and out of the area. CONSTITUTION:An IC card 1 incorporates an IC chip 2, which is connected electrically to the connection part of a card tester through a connection part 3 formed on the card surface. The IC chip 2 consists of a CPU 4 as a control element which decodes, processes, and stores externally inputted instructions and data and the data memory 5 stored with data processed by this CPU 4. The CPU 4 consists of a control part 6 which decodes instructions sent through the connection part 3 and controls the operation of respective parts in the CPU 4, an arithmetic part which performs necessary arithmetic operation according to the kind of an instruction, an ROM (read-only memory) 8 stored with internal control programs, fixed data, etc., and an RAM 9 stored with instructions, data, etc., temporarily. |
