PURPOSE:To seal a gap completely with good workability in a short time, by previously coating one member with a sealing agent and curing it in sealing a gap, formed between two members when combined, with a sealing agent. CONSTITUTION:In sealing a gap 3 formed between the lower curved surface of a rear oil seal retainer oil pump 1 and the upper curved surface of an oil pan 2 when the oil pump 1 is fixed to the oil pan 2, a room temperature curing silicone rubber 4a is previously applied to the lower curved surface of the oil pump 1 and cured. The same kind of silicone rubber 4b is applied to the upper curved surface of the oil pan 2 and the oil pump 1 is rapidly placed on the oil pan 2 from the upper side to seal the gap 3. In this way, after two members are combined, the viscous flow of the sealing agent is stopped and the sealed part is completely cured in a short time.
