The lifting assembly for fodder blocks has a frame (1) carrying lines (5) on its lower section. Spaced above these is an arm (6) carrying a cutter at its end and actuated for movement in a horizontal plane by a double-acting hydraulic cylinder (16). - The cylinder has a rack (17) which engages with a wheel or pinion (18) connected to the arm carrying the cutter. The frame has at least one stop (34) against which the body of the cylinder engages. The stop is positioned, w.r.t. the cylinder, on the side opposite to the rack.
