Sheet (I) comprises (a) 10-50(25-35)% of at least 1 copolymer of ethylene content 40-95 (72-88)% with at least 1 comonomer selected from (i) vinyl esters of 1-4C saturated carboxylic acid, (ii) 3-5C mono-or dicarboxylic unsaturated acids and (iii) esters or salts of (ii) with 1-8C alcohols. - Copolymer may also contain carbon monoxide or sulphur dioxide, (b) 2-30 (12-18)% of at least 1 plasticiser selected from processing oils, epoxidised oils, polyethers, polyesters or polyether esters, (c) 20-80 (50-60)% filler and (d) 0-10% of at least 1 additive selected from organic acid (deriv) or surface active agent. - (I) can be cut, shaped or mechanically altered while in sheet form to suit the geometry of the substrates. (I) and the substrates can be laminated and then heated to melt the adhesive. Prior art adhesives have to be applied in pre-melted hot fluid form. (0/0) USAB- US4434261 A Extrudable hot melt adhesive sheet comprises (A) 10-50 wt.% copolymer of ethylene with 5-60 wt.% (i) vinyl ester of 1-4 C satd. carboxylic acid or (ii) 3-5 C unsatd. mono- or di-carboxylic acid or salt thereof or ester thereof with 1-8 C alcohol (B) 2-30 wt.% plasticiser, (C) 20-80 wt.% filler and (D) 0-10 wt.% organic acid (deriv.) or surfactant. - When (A) is a vinyl ester or unsatd. carboxylic acid ester copolymer, it may also contain up to 15 wt.% CO or SO2. The sheet is nonadhesive at room temp. but is adhesive at 150 deg.F. It is self supporting at 200-350 deg.F and has melt index 10-500. It has good shelf life. - (7pp)
