THERMAL AGING-RESISTANT RESIN COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To improve the thermal aging resistance of an olefin polymer markedly, by adding zinc sulfide to the polymer. CONSTITUTION:A resin composition containing 100pts.wt. olefin polymer and 0.1-40pts.wt. zinc sulfide. Examples of the olefin polymers which can be suitably used include ethylene homopolymers and copolymers. The use of both the homopolymer and the copolymer is preferable to the use of the homopolymer alone. Examples of the ethylene copolymers used in combination with the homopolymer here include ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) and ethylene/ ethyl acrylate copolymer. EVA having a vinyl acetate content of about 2-25wt% and a melt index of about 0.2-1.0 is desirably used. This composition may further contain phenolic or/and benzimidazole antioxidants.
