The fibres or fabric are treated for 5-100 minutes at 30-75 deg.C in an aq. bath contg. a reducing agent, e.g. sulphite, bisulphate or tetrathionate in concn. of 0.2-2 wt./vol.%, a cationic surfactant with a 10-18C alkyl chain in concn. of 0.2-2 wt./vol.%, and a cationic pre-polymer of polyethyleneimine or polyamide-epichlorhydrin type in concn. of 0.5-3 wt.% based on wt. of fibre.
