PURPOSE:To recover sensitive heat economically with high efficiency of cooling and heat recovery without causing uneven cooling, by separating high-temperature granules in a packed column type cooling tower, cooling a fluid of the separated fine granules in a specified fine granule cooling tower and feeding hot gas into a boiler. CONSTITUTION:Granules at a high temperature such as red-hot coke or sintered ore, are filled in a packed column type cooling tower 1 through a dispenser 23. The packing in the tower 1 is separated into a layer of fluidizied coke with a small diameter (b) and a layer of coarse-sized coke (a) with an inert cooling gas blown at an appropriate flow rate controlled by a control valve 13. The coke with a small particle diameter (b) is cooled with an inert gas blown from an opening 3 into a fine granule cooling tower 2 through a connecting pipe 7, a control valve 11 and a control valve 14 and is made to flow down through a grating 10 and an overflow pipe 11 for discharge from a discharger 18. The inert gas at an elevated temperature is fed into a boiler 4 through a connecting pipe 9, a control valve 12, a connecting pipe 8 and a coarse dust catcher 25. The coarse-sized coke (a) is discharged through a discharging device 17 at about 200 deg.C to convert inert gas into hot gas for supply to the boiler 4 through a connecting pipe 8, etc.
