Jointing band includes a softened polymer which is formed against the porous layer, eg. a woven synthetic fibre, as it cures around hooked projections which protrude from the side of the fabric. The other side may be attached by a conventional adhesive film to a material . Alternatively both sides of layer are provided with hooked projections and softened polymer is applied to the to both sides. The polymer is pref, a silicone.
