PURPOSE:To minimize the operation by lifting a handset according to the message displayed at the end of transaction to attain the talking mode with a host. CONSTITUTION:When a final data EOT is received and transaction is finished, a reply message from the host is displayed on a display device 19. Then a control section 20 discriminates whether a talking mode switch command exists in the reply message or not, and when the command exists, the control section 20 checks the detection output of a detection circuit 13 without interrupting a telephone line and checks for the state of a hook switch 5. When the handset hooks on, a buzzer drive circuit 22 is controlled to drive a buzzer 21 thereby warning for hook-off. When the handset is lifted, the control section stops driving the buzzer 21 to make talking with a host possible.
