PT--81507 A 3-((4-bromo 2-fluorophenyl)methyl) 3,4-dihydro 4-oxo 1-phthala acetic acid is made by (a) reaction of 3-oxo 3-(2-carboethoxy phenyl) propanoic acid ethyl ester with 4-bromo 2-fluorobenzyl hydrazine in solvent at 20-180 deg.C; and (b) hydrolysis of the ester obtd. - The solvent is pref. an ether, e.g. ethyl ether, tetrahydrofurane, etc. or an alcohol e.g. methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, etc. ..ER ALL
