A dentifrice comprising (i) an abrasive selected from calcium carbonate, dicalcium phosphate, an insoluble silicate, calcium bicarbonate, insoluble sodium metaphosphate, alumina and a silica; and (ii) an aq. soln. of alkali metal fluorides, alkali metal monofluorophosphate and, at a concn. of at least 0.5 mM, orthophosphate anions, the soln. pH being 7-11.
