Appts. for vacuum-forming papier-mache articles from fibrous slurry, includes a two-part mould of which each part is lined with a fluid-permeable member in communication with a vacuum chamber in each mould half, the fluid permeable members defining the shape of an article when the mould is closed. The mould halves are linked to open and close non-linearly, specifically by a hinge. - Pref. the moulds are hinged upon a support tube which applies vacuum to the mould vacuum chambers as the moulds dip into a slurry tank. Pref. multiple moulds are on an endless conveyor.
