PURPOSE:To permit the prominent high-speed response property of valve mechanism by a method wherein a valve plate is opened and closed by abutting againt and separatig from a valve seat to inject fuel in a pump chamber. CONSTITUTION:When a positive voltage is impressed on an electrostrictive element 1, an axial displacement is generated and a piston 7 is pushed down to increase a pressure in the pump chamber 2. Then, the pressure becomes higher than the valve opening pressure of the plate valve 4 and fuel injection is started. Then, the fuel pushed down the circumferential end of the plate valve 4 and discharged fuel collides agaist a spray angle correcting section 3b, thereafter, the fuel is injected downward. The injection is stopped automatically when the pressure in the pump chamber 2 is reduced. Thereafter, the electrostrictive element 1 is contracted into the axial direction thereof when the voltage on the electrostrictive element 1 is removed or a negative voltage is impressed thereon. At this moment, the piston 7 moves upward by the resilient force of a leaf spring 10 and the pump chamber 2 is filled with the supplying fuel again. |
