The labelling appliance serves for dispensing self-adhesive labels (5) arranged releasably on a carrier tape (4). The tape drawn off from a supply roll (3) is guided via a driving roller (9) and a deflecting edge (10), where the label (5) is released. Its front part is pressed onto a support by a pressure roller (11). The remaining draw-off of the label (5) from the tape (4) takes place as a result of a relative movement between the support and the appliance. The empty tape is guided via a draw-off roller (12) to a driven winding mandrel (13) which is arranged on the appliance at the top in the vicinity of the supply roll (3). The latter is held laterally by two discs (28, 29) which are pushed displaceably on an unwinding roller (8), the tape (4) being guided between the discs (28, 29) both during unwinding and during winding. The appliance is easy to operate and is suitable for dispensing and applying labels of different formats which can be interchanged quickly and without difficulty. <IMAGE>
