PURPOSE:To reduce production time for a machine for machining both ends of a bar stock by pressing the rear end of an unmachined bar stock toward a pusher by a given force to locate the bar stock, said bar stock having been forwarded into an unloader and fixed, and by holding the bar stock by a chuck to supply the bar stock without the use of a stopper. CONSTITUTION:A bar stock W1 supplied to and held at the inlet of the guide cylinder 25 of a loader 11 is inserted into a spindle 2 through the cylinder 25 by advancing a pusher 33 and the bar stock W1 is held with its front end inserted into a guide bushing. Then, a locating member 43 is inserted close to the front end of the bar stock W1 to be located by the locating member 43 abutting on the front end of the bar stock. The bar stock W1 is gripped by a chuck 3 in the spindle 2. The locating member 43 and then the cylinder 25 and the pusher 33 are retreated. After a center hole 45 is machined in the rear end surface of the bar stock W1, a center 33a is engaged with the center hole 45 by advancing the cylinder 25 and the pusher 33. During machining both the ends of the bar stock W1, the subsequent one is fed to between the cylinder 25 and the pusher 33. |
