PURPOSE:To enhance correcting quality, by a method wherein normal character printing and correction are discriminated from each other, and a printing period for heating resistor elements of a thermal head in correction is set to be longer than that in normal character printing. CONSTITUTION:An input data discriminating part 1 discriminates whether input data are for normal printing or for correction, starts a printing pulse period setting part 2, 3 (for correction and normal printing, respectively) to set a pulse period, and a current-passing time is set by an impressed pulse width setting part 4, 5 (for correction and normal printing, respectively). In a head output data forming part 6, a head-driving pulse synthesizing part 7 synthesizes a head-driving pulse based on a printing pulse period set by the part 2, 3 and a pulse width set by the part 4, 5. A thermal head driving part 11 is controlled by the synthesized pulse, and printing is conducted by a thermal head 12. A mechanism-controlling part 8 controls a mechanism-driving part 9 to drive a mechanism part 10. |
