DRYING METHOD OF COOLING BODY SURFACE FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE:To dry the condensed water generated on the surface of cooling bodies and to produce continuously and safely an ingot having excellent quality by injecting dried air or inert gas to the outside circumferential surface of the cooling bodies prior to the start of casting. CONSTITUTION:Gas blowing nozzles 4 are provided in proximity to one end edge each of a pair of the cooling rolls 1 which rotate i opposite directions in proximity to each other on the outside opposite from the proximate parts. The nozzles 4 are disposed to parallel or incline with the axial line of the rolls 1 and to have about 0-85 deg. angle with the cooling surfaces. The rolls 1 are rotated while the inert gas is infected from the nozzles 4 toward the outside circumferential surfaces of a pair of the rolls 1 to blow away the water on the surfaces until a molten metal 3 in a vessel 2 arrives at the rolls 1. The continuous production of the ingot having the excellent quality is thus made possible.
