Finely pulverised alloy material consisting of rare-earth metal/cobalt alloy is compacted into an annular cavity (32), which is formed by a cylindrical core (12), a circular pole limb (17) and from two hollow-cylindrical pressing dies which act against one another, while a radially directed magnetic field (19) is passed through, in order to form a pressed item. A plurality of magnetically oriented pressed items are compressed by means of isostatic heat compression while maintaining the orientation, in order to form a hollow-cylindrical magnet body. <IMAGE>
