PURPOSE:To improve general purposes by controlling the unbalanced load of a pair of electrostatic capacitors, forming a negative feedback system defining a prescribed unbalanced point as a stable point and detecting a changing component of a true electrostatic capacitor prevented from the influence of a floating capacitor. CONSTITUTION:A displacement converter is constituted of a pair of electrostatic capacitors C1, C2 consisting of the 1st and 2nd electrodes SP1, SP2 about common electrodes MP, switches S1-S6, a fixed capacitor CCP, a distributing capacitor CSO, a resistor R1, an integrator Q1, etc. In the 1st phase, the switches S1, S2 are turned on and fixed voltages +E, and -E are impressed upon the 1st and 2nd electrodes SP1, SP2 respectively, and the 2nd phase, the switches S3, S4 are turned on and a variable voltage V is impressed upon the 1st and 2nd electrodes SP1, SP2. When the oscillation of both the phases are repeated, the distributing capacitor CSO is controlled so that the electrode (e) of the common electrodes MP is turned to zero and a controlled 'unbalanced load' is applied to the electrostatic capacitors C1, C2, so that detection excluding the unvariable components of the electrostatic capacitors C1, C2 can be attained.
