PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically select the classification of the loaded cassette tapes by a simple construction by providing a tape classification detecting member to a cassette container. CONSTITUTION:A tape classification detecting member 7 is loaded to a through- hole 6c in a side wall 6b of the cassette container 4 and consists of a detecting piece 7a bent in the chevron form and a switch operating member 7b. When a normal type tape pack 8 is loaded, the operating piece 7c is thrust by its side wall into contact with a switch 9. When a metal type pack 8 is loaded, the operating piece 7c intruded into the side wall hole to inhibit actuation of the switch 9. Thus it is possible to switch the circuit by the switch 9 automatically by the tape classification.
