PURPOSE:To prevent improper starting of a compressor and the generation of its abnormal noise, by forming an external shape of a cylinder, fixed to an enclosed vessel, agreeing almost with the external shape of a stator and ensuring a necessary clearance between both the cylinder and the vessel so as to surely fix the cylinder when it is welded and fixed to the enclosed vessel. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 9, providing an escape part 9a agreeing almost with a notch 3a of a stator 3, is constituted so that the notch 3a and the escape part 9a almost coincide in the axial direction when a compressor is assembled. Consequently, the cylinder 9, when it is fixed to an enclosed vessel 1 by welding or the like, can be surely fixed to the enclosed vessel 1 increasing also the rigidity by placing the periphery of the cylinder 9 almost along the internal periphery of the enclosed vessel 1. Accordingly, the cylinder adequately holds also an air gap, and the compressor can prevent its coefficient of performance from worsening due to improper starting and the generation of an abnormal noise from a contact of a rotor 2 with the stator 3 by magnetic force of an electric driving element 4 in operation further due to a decrease of efficiency of the electric driving element 4 in accordance with unevenness of the air gap.
