An edge-grinding machine for grinding edges on plates made of brittle material is to be designed such that adjustment of the necessary working distance of peripheral grinding wheel sets from one another can be carried out quickly, safely and without problems. For this purpose, it is provided to fix the distance of the peripheral grinding wheel sets (16) from one another by means of end stops (26) which can move in the displacement path of the peripheral grinding wheel sets (16) and to assign to each peripheral grinding wheel set (16) a plurality of end stops (26), in each case one of which lies in the displacement path of the peripheral grinding wheel set (16). By virtue of this design, the distance of the peripheral grinding wheel sets (16) from one another can be altered without special care on the part of the operating personnel, since merely one preset end stop has to be moved into the displacement path of the peripheral grinding wheel sets (16) and the latter then pressed or drawn onto the end stops. <IMAGE>
