The nuclear fuel element according to the invention comprises a jacket (14) obturated at its ends by plugs (10) of which a cylindrical part (12) is force-fitted into the jacket. The inner diameter (d) of the jacket may vary between a maximum diameter and a minimum diameter, the diameter (D) of the cylindrical part (12) being equal to said minimum diameter. Three striations (20) machined on the cylindrical part (12) form beads of which the thickness is equal to half of the difference between the maximum diameter and the minimum diameter of the jacket (14).
