PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body high in sensitivity and durability by forming a photosensitive layer contg. a specified azo compd. on a conductive substrate. CONSTITUTION:The electrostatic charge generating layer of the photosensitive layer contains the azo compd. represented by formula (1) in which Cp is a coupler residue selected from formulae (1), (2), and (3). The charge generating layer is formed, for example, by dissolving or dispersing said azo compd. into a proper solvent alone or together with a binder polymer, coating the conductive substrate with the obtained coating material, and drying it. The binder polymer is used in an amt. of 0.1-5wt% and the azo compd. is, preferably, added into the binder in a state of <=1mum diameter particles, a preferably thickness of the charge generating layer is usually <= few mum, preferably, <=1mum, and a charge transfer layer is laminated on the charge generating layer, but on the contrary, the charge transfer layer may be formed on the conductive substrate and the charge generating layer may be formed on it, but the former type is used more frequently. |
