Swash plate compressor with variable stroke

A swash plate compressor, the stroke of which can be adjusted by changing the swash plate inclination, has a control unit for changing the compression stroke. This unit comprises a fluid passage which makes a connection between a chamber of the compressor crank housing and at least one suction chamber or the discharge chamber. Arranged in the fluid passage is an electrically actuated valve which serves to control the fluid connection. An amplifier, which receives one or more control signals, serves to actuate the valve. When the valve is actuated, a pressure in the chamber of the crank housing changes from a high to a low value or vice versa so that the swash plate angle and correspondingly the compression stroke also change.
