Method of keeping the interiors of inductors, runners, nozzles and the like free of deposits

A method is proposed for keeping the interiors of inductors, runners, nozzles and the like free of deposits which form in the production of a cast-iron melt treated with magnesium. These deposits are produced as reaction products, block the channels and are responsible for high maintenance costs. The cast iron melt is rinsed free of suspended, highly basic reaction products such as MgO, CaO, Al2O3, FeO, MgS by a predetermined magnesium treatment of a cast-iron melt with pure magnesium and simultaneous evaporation of additional magnesium which is not consumed for the magnesium treatment. This method prevents deposits forming. The service life of the containers used is increased and the maintenance costs and expenditure are reduced.
