A safety value which is installed in a pipeline consists of at least two subelements (which can be plugged into or onto one another and have a plurality of parts) in the form of chambers which separate from one another at a weak point (4) in the event of the maximum permissible force which may act on the pipeline being exceeded, and of closures which are located in these chambers. The closures (5) are directly, indirectly (6) or loosely coupled or connected to one another and are arranged in the chambers of the subelements (1) such that, as a result of their special shape and nature, they are pressed into the holes (3) (by means of which the chambers are connected to one another) during the separating process and in consequence permanently close the openings which have formed in the pipeline (2). <IMAGE>
