The invention relates to a cable bulkhead which, in the region of a wall through-opening, seals the cable which is passed through there with respect to the opening such that fire is prevented from passing through the opening from one room into the other. The outer layers, which face the rooms, of the cable bulkhead according to the invention consist of a coating material which leads to a good mechanical closure of the cable bulkhead to the outsides. This results in the cable bulkhead according to the invention being able to withstand even relatively long attacks by extinguishing water in an extremely effective manner, despite the use of intrinsically light materials, which was not possible in the case of previous seals using mineral wool.
