Appliance for checking the liquid level of containers by means of a dipstick guided and movable in a measuring duct, especially for checking the oil level of engines, the measuring duct being sealed by means of a sealing cap which on its upper side is slotted, corresponding to the cross-section of the dipstick to be passed through, with at least one mobile lip being formed.
