The invention relates to compositions containing glycoproteins which protect in vivo against leishmanias, the said glycoproteins having a molecular weight of the order to 20, or of the order of 20-32, or alternatively of the order of 70 kD, and capable of being obtained from leishmania lysates. The invention also relates to vaccinal compositions for humans and animals using such glycoproteins as active ingredient.
