PURPOSE:To prevent peeling off when a substrate is formed by baking by forming an electrode substrate for fuel cell by arranging flexible graphite sheets on both sides of carbon plates and bonding a porous carbon layer serving as gas diffusion layer on the outside of each graphite sheet. CONSTITUTION:An electrode substrate 8 for bipolar type fuel cell is formed in such a way that flexible graphite sheets 4 are arranged on both sides of a carbon plate 2 to form gas nonpermeable layer, and porous carbon layers having passages forming high polymer material 3 are arranged on the outside of each graphite sheet 4. Each material for forming these five layers is placed in a mold in order, and they are pressed under specified pressure and temperature for a specified time, then baked in one body. The electrode substrates 8 are stacked with a matrix 5 and catalyst layers 6 to form a unit cell 7. Peeling off of the substrate when it is formed by baking is prevented by graphite sheet 4. Since mechanical strength is increased, the substrate can be made thin. |
