PURPOSE:To prevent flicker caused at the reception of a character multiplex broadcast signal by using a changeover signal from a remote controller to change over the scanning system of a receiver at the reception of character multiplex broadcast from the interlace system into the non-interlace system. CONSTITUTION:A remote control signal from the remote controller is received by a remote control signal reception circuit 1 and a remote control signal discriminating circuit 2 sets a mode changeover circuit 3 of a receiver to be either in the character multiplex broadcast signal reception state or the television signal reception state. In case of the character multiplex broadcast reception state, the remote control signal discrimination circuit 2 outputs a signal converting the scanning system of the receiver into the non-interlace system to a scanning line structure converting circuit 4. Thus, the scanning line structure converting circuit 4 shifts the vertical synchronizing signal by H/2 to change over the scanning system of the receiver into the non-interlace system.
