PURPOSE:To decrease the recording time by driving a paper feeding mechanism before the recording is started by a recording head to carry a paper sheet thereby setting the tip of the paper sheet to a recording position of the recording head or a position just before the recording position. CONSTITUTION:A main control section 10 initializes at first the own operating state and the operating state of each section with power applied, inputs an output signal of a cassette sensor to discriminates whether or not a cassette case 2 is loaded. When the case is loaded, the section 10 gives the load command of a paper sheet 3 to a recording control section 20, which carries the paper sheet at the uppermost part of the cassette case 2. When the tip of the paper sheet 3 reaches a position just before the recording head 1, a step motor 6 is stopped to complete the load control operation of the paper sheet 3. Then the main control section 10 discriminates whether or not there is the request of reception or copying of a picture signal and starts the recording when the request exists.
