PURPOSE:To obtain the title magnetic recording medium almost without any malfunction and decrease in the reproducing output by providing an intermediate layer consisting of TinO2n-1 between a magnetic layer and a carrier. CONSTITUTION:A thin film intermediate layer consisting of TinO2n-1 is provided between a magnetic layer and a carrier. The titanium oxide expressed by TinO2n-1 is the mixed crystal of a tetragonal crystal and a cubic crystal, and the thickness of the intermediate layer is preferably regulated to 100-10,000Angstrom . The intermediate layer is formed on the carrier by a PVD method such as sputtering, vapor deposition and iron plating. Consequently, a magnetic recording medium having an excellent antistatic effect, low light transmittance, and excellent electromagnetic transducing characteristics such as S/N can be obtained.
