PURPOSE:To replace the recording of an optional response message with a response message of an optional length by formatting the response message onto a response magnetic tape after the response message is recorded once on a business magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:After the response message is recorded once on the business magnetic tape 3, all the response message after response messages not required and recorded on the response magnetic tape 2 in succession to the new response message are reproduced on the business magnetic tape 3 and also the reproducing signal is recorded after the new response message of business magnetic tape 3. While the new response message recorded on the business magnetic tape 3 and the response message succeeding thereto are reproduced, the reproducing signal is recorded from the 1st position of the response message not required on the response magnetic tape 2.
