PLATE WIDTH SETTER IN ENDLESS TRACK TYPE CONTINUOUS CASTING MACHINE FOR METALLIC PLATE

PURPOSE:To reduce an initial cost and to improve the working efficiency of a line by providing rotating bodies to the right and left ends on the outlet side of a molten metal pouring nozzle and disposing knives for controlling the plate width in contact with the rotating bodies. CONSTITUTION:The rotating bodies 6 such as disks are disposed on the outlet side of the nozzle 3 between endless tracks 2 of a casting mold and are made rotatable at the same circumferential speed as the moving speed of casting mold blocks 1. The circumferential surfaces 6a thereof are brought into contact with the right and left end points P of the nozzle 3 and the knives 7 which control the plate width by contacting with the surfaces 6a are provided in front of the disks 6. The disks 6 are made adjustable in turning within the plane of an ingot around the contact points P together with the knives 7. The thickness of the ingot 8 is controlled by the upper and lower mold blocks 1 and the width thereof is controlled by the peripheral surfaces 6a of the disks 6 and the knives 7 in the stage of casting continuously the ingot. The easy width change is made possible by turning the disks 6 and the knives 7. The initial cost is thus reduced and the working efficiency of the line is improved.
