PURPOSE:Finely-ground polyvalent metal salt of 2-mercaptopyridin-N-oxide useful as an antimicrobial composition, having improved dispersion stability, and improved adsorbability to the skin and hair, obtained by pulverizing particle diameters of the substance into <= a specific particle diameter distribution. CONSTITUTION:A polyvalent metal salt of 2-mercaptopyridin-N-oxide is stirred with a rigid medium such as Ottawa sand, glass, alumina, zircon having <=0.5mm. particle diameter to give finely-ground polyvalent metal salt of 2-mercaptopyridin-N-oxide comprising >=50wt% particles having <=0.2mu particle diameter. The polyvalent metal salt of 2-mercaptopyridin-N-oxide has preferable form of dispersion. EFFECT:Providing shampoo, hair rinse, etc. with improved antimicrobial action and suppressing action on dandruff. Composition can be prepared efficiently and in a short time. |
