PURPOSE:To provide the titled contact point material having excellent breaking performance and dielectric thrength performance by limiting a compsn. consisting of Cr, W, Re and Cu. CONSTITUTION:This contact material for a vacuum breaker contains 10-40wt%, more preferably about 15-30% Cr, 1-20%, more preferably about 5-10% W and 0.5-20%, more preferably about 2-10% Re and consists of the balance Cu. This material provides a contact point for the vacuum breaker having excellent current breaking performance. The alloy for the above-mentioned contact point material is obtd. by press-molding the raw material compounded with respectively prescribed ratios of Cr having about >=99.5% purity, W having about >=99.5% purity, Re having about >=99.5% purity and Cu having about >=99.0% purity by a press, then sintering the molding in a reducing atmosphere, non-oxidizing atmosphere or vacuum atmosphere. |
