MANUFACTURE OF SPACER OF DIGITAL LENGTH MEASURING INSTRUMENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform and extremely narrow scale gap by providing a spacer on a fixed scale. CONSTITUTION:The fixed scale 11 is pressed against a moving scale 10 all the time through the operation of an elastic member 13 and an elastic member 15 for pressing. A light emitting element 17 and a photodetecting element 20 are arranged opposite each other across the scale 11. Further, the scales 10 and 11 are held in parallel through the operation of the spacer 12. Four spacer 12 are provided on the surface of the scale 11 and organic or inorganic ink is printed and baked. The spacer which uses the organic ink is formed by using a glass material firstly and the fixed scale is degreased and cleaned with 'TRICHLENE(R)' for about 10 minutes. Then, the fixed scale is dried with a hot blast. Epoxy ink is printed on the surface of the fixed scale at a desired position. The printed epoxy ink is baked. The baked ink is further baked and the fixed scale is cleaned and dried with a hot blast.
