SINGLE COMPONENT PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE COMPOSITION AND PRODUCT An improved single-component pressure-sensitive adhesive composition is provided which is the random emulsion polymerization product of (i) a monomer mixture comprising styrene, butadiene, itaconic acid or methacrylic acid or a mixture thereof, and alpha-methyl styrene, and (ii) tertiary dodecyl mercaptan in an amount of from 1.35 to 1.55 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of said monomer mixture. The adhesive composition has an excellent balance of tack, adhesion and cohesion properties without requiring tackifiers and provides a strong but flexible bond. The pressure-sensitive adhesive composition is useful for fibrous materials such as textiles, paper and non-wovens as well as for metals, plastics and wood.
