PURPOSE:To obtain high engine-brake force with an economical construction by increasing the quantity of air which flows a bypass connecting the upper course of a throttle valve with its lower course by request for engine brake, and increasing air quantity flowing into a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:When request for engine brake is issued by operating an engine brake request switch 28, a bypass air control valve 16 is fully opened, increasing the quantity of bypass air which flows a bypass 15 connecting the upper course of a throttle valve 12 with its lower course. Thereby, more air is taken in into a cylinder at the intake of an engine 14, increasing pumping loss at the time of its compressing stroke, resulting in increase in engine brake force.
