PURPOSE:To obtain ethanol in high yield and selectivity, by reacting CO with H2 in the presence of a catalyst supporting Rh, Li, Ir and/or Mg, Y, V, Cr, etc., on a carrier and a catalyst supporting Pd and Fe and/or Mo on a carrier. CONSTITUTION:CO is reacted with H2 in the presence of a catalyst supporting at least one of Rh, Li, Ir and/or Mg, Y, Yb, Lu, V and Cr on a carrier and a catalyst supporting Pd and Fe and/or Mo on a carrier at 180-350 deg.C under 0-250kg/cm<2>G pressure to give ethanol. The carrier is preferably silica based carrier having 10-1,000m<2>/g specific surface area and >=10Angstrom pore diameter, and the catalyst prepared by the impregnation method, etc., reducing the impreg nated carrier, and activating the reduced impregnated carrier for use. Either one of fixed beds or fluidized beds may be used as a reactor. |
