A single-hand operated soldering pen is equipped with a feed tube (24) for soldering wire (26) and a finger-actuated forward-feed mechanism (18) situated near the grip (10, 12) of the soldering pen. A catch (46) near the front end of the feed tube (24) allows for the use of short soldering wire pieces. This catch normally fixes the soldering wire (26) in the feed tube (24), but releases the same to feed the soldering wire forward when a soldering wire advancer (48) controlled by the forward-feed mechanism (18) is actuated. The soldering wire advancer (48) is designed to engage with the soldering wire (26) near the front end of the feed tube (24).<IMAGE> |
