PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for preheating by heating a toner sticking to a transfer medium formed on the surface of a fixing device consisting of an endless belt and a press roll to be pressed thereto by a face heating element made of carbon thereby welding thermally the toner. CONSTITUTION:A fixing device is provided on the outlet side of copying paper. The fixing device consists of the endless heat belt 28 wound on a pair of rolls 27a, 27b and the press roll 29 to press the belt. The belt is constituted by forming the face heating element 101 made of carbon in a laminar state to the outside periphery of an insulating base 102 made of polyamide or the like having thermal insulating property. Electrodes 104, 105 are provided to the ends to the belt 28 and are connected to a power source (not shown in the figure) via the electrodes 106, 107 provided to the roll 27a. The element 101 is heated to weld thermally the toner on the copying paper passing between the belt 28 and the roll 29 when a voltage is impressed between the electrodes 106 and 107. |
