PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily and securely position and fix a second supporting member with high accuracy by fixing the rear end of a second supporting member at a location on a line passing through the center of the recording and reproducing portion of a head element and running parallel to the driving direction and a location offset from the parallel line. CONSTITUTION:Since the positioning and fixing are performed by a screw 12a, only the rotational moment K about the screw 12a as fulcrum acts as rotational moment produced from the torque produced by screwing. Hence it is no longer necessary to provide for uniform torque for tightening plural screws so that an arm 6 can be very easily positioned and fixed in the stable state with high accuracy. After fixing, a screw 12b is passed through a hole 13b offset from a centerline L1 of a plate spring 13 and screwed into a screw hole 2b of a carriage 2. In this manner, the rotational moment about the screw 12a produced when an external force is applied to the arm 6 in the direction of the arrow mark F can be coped with to prevent positional deviation of the arm 16 under the external force.
