PURPOSE:To detect always easily a head crush to facilitate the maintenance and inspection of a disc device by reading information for initialization of the disc device by a magnetic head to store this information and comparing its signal waveform with an operating signal waveform. CONSTITUTION:Information of a magnetic disc is read by a magnetic head 2-1 and is amplified by an amplifier 7 and is inputted to a switch circuit 8. this circuit 8 is controlled by the output of a magnetic head 2-2 and is connected to a terminal B at the initialization time and is connected to a terminal A at the normal operation time, and initialization information is stored in a storage circuit 10. The signal waveform of this stored initialization information is compared with the signal waveform for normal operation by a comparing circuit 9, and abnormality is detected in an abnormality discriminating part 11 in accordance with the comparison result. Abnormality is processed by an abnormality processing part 12, thus facilitating maintenance and inspection on the operation of the magnetic disc device.
