PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform expanded snack, by pushing forcedly a grain raw material in an extruder by an upright screw of variable number of revolutions, and taking out an excess raw material from a discharge end at the rear of a barrel when a screw is abnormal. CONSTITUTION:A grain raw material is fed to the hopper part 8 of the raw material pushing feeder 2, pushed forcedly through the upright screw 9 of variable numbers of revolutions in a single screw collet type screw, heat is generated by the screw 3 having the screw length of 2.5-3.5 times as long as screw diameter set in the cylindrical barrel 4, the grain raw material is gelatinized, and extruded from the nozzle hole 7 of the die 10 into a fixed shape. When an extraordinary torque occurs in the screw 9, an excess raw material is taken out from the discharge end 5 set at the rear part of the barrel 4 to the outside of the system.
