PURPOSE:To obtain a long life filter element wherein a filter materials are prevented not only from the generation of wrinkles or strain but also overlapping, by alternately adhering the ridge and valley parts of ridge pleats by non- filter materials when ridge pleats are formed by mutually opposed adjacent filter materials. CONSTITUTION:Mutually opposed adjacent filter materials 1, 2 are arranged almost in parallel and wound up to the longitudinal direction thereof in a spiral form while flow channels are formed to both front and back surfaces of said filter materials and molded by alternately adhering both terminal parts of said flow channels by non-filter materials. In a cross-sectional shape, ridge pleats are constituted of the adjacent filter materials 1, 2 and the non-filter materials 3. The width of each flow channel formed to the filter materials 1, 2 is pref. wider in the outflow side as compared with that in the inflow side. As filtering materials, a nonwoven fabric, filter paper or a fabric is used.
