PURPOSE:To attain stable steel operation by interpolating a one-rotation signal on the basis of an output signal previously stored in a storage means when the dropout of an one-rotation signal part of a track on a recording carrier due to dust, dirt or flaws and a detecting means does not detect the one-rotation signal. CONSTITUTION:A memory in an index detecting circuit 8 records a signal obtained by delaying an index pulse obtained by reproducing the recording carrier 1 by one rotation of the recording medium 1 with relative relation to a signal obtained from a position detecting element 9. If an index mark which is an output signal of a head amplifier 5 is lacked, a signal obtained by interpolating the index signal by a signal outputted from the memory is inputted to a jumping starting circuit 10.
